Often, the “thank you” that people want is just to know that their efforts aren’t going unnoticed by the people who are around them. I want to show you how much I appreciate what you’ve done. ![]() “It means the world to me.” This is a great place to start when someone says that. There are times when it is hard to show how important or valuable someone’s work is. It means everything to me that you think of me. ![]() People who go out of their way to help us should know how much we appreciate them. It means to keep or hold up a load, mass, structure, part, or another thing act as a foundation for. It means the world to me that you believe in me. If they took some of their time to make your life easier, thank them. When people do something nice or help someone else, they are also giving the gift of their time to the cause. Thanks for reading this and for your help. If you want to show your appreciation in a big way but on a small scale, say “much appreciated.” Whether you’re texting your friend or writing an email, this is the best way to get your point across quickly! Make no apologies for having a good time or for being excited about how you can use their gift! You can make the message more memorable by telling them how they’ve made your day better. Have you recently had a birthday, wedding, or baby shower? Do you want to show your appreciation to your guests for giving you gifts? A thoughtful note is a great way to show how much you care. You might get tired of saying “thank you very much” and “thank you a lot.” Here are 25 creative ways to say “thank you” that is appropriate in a wide range of situations. We’re lucky to be able to show our gratitude so many times a day, but there are times when we need new words and expressions to show how grateful we are. The barista at the coffee shop was polite even though there were a lot of people there, or a colleague told you that they tried to help you get started on a difficult project, for example, even though it was a lot of work. On a daily basis, we have a lot of reasons to say thank you to people who are close to us.

![]() This was extremely irritating, so I disabled the automatic locking door mechanism. The van was making a sound of locking/unlocking the doors every thirty seconds or so. The van did have a problem with the automatic locking doors in that while driving. There have been no issues with the mechanics of how the vehicle drives. I acquired this van when it had just under 100,000 miles. The Honda Odyssey is a great car for a family, from everyday around the town driving to longer trips. There is also some slight cracking to the paint on the corners. We have never damaged it by bumping into anything or wrecked it. I'm not sure why a bumper needs little plastic pieces holding it on. Most of these issues seem to be coming from cheaper plastic pieces being used. The plastic clips that hold the bumper on have gradually broken, and the piece that fits underneath fell off last week. It's been decided that the cost of changing out the whole thing isn't worth the occasional inconvenience. Like you hit the volume up and it changes the song being played or vice versa. The buttons on the steering wheel sometimes cross. The alarm keeps sounding until you can hit the close button enough on that side for it to slide the last little bit in place. On one side, it doesn't shut all the way, and the alarm sounds when the car is in gear. We have to gently guide the door with our hands to keep the sensor from sensing an obstruction. The automatic door motors/slides have been replaced twice and need it again. Most of the time, they snap back on without any problem. Smaller cosmetic pieces tend to come off inside. We haven't had to have any major body or engine work done. The top negatives for this car are mainly cosmetic. This vehicle drops from six to four cylinders when on the highway, saving money. The sliding doors sense when something is blocking the door, such as a small child, and open back up instead of injuring the child. The engine has held up very well, though we do all recommended maintenance on it. We haven't had to have any major repairs done. It is even convenient to remove and reinstall the middle seats. We constantly change the seating around to accommodate what we are doing at the time. ![]() We frequently shuttle to sporting events with friends, family, ice chests, lawn chairs, etc., and have had no issues. It comfortably holds all the kids and three large dogs for trips as well. There is room in the seat backs for the kids to store electronics, books and art supplies for long trips. Very rarely has there been a space issue. We have hauled some major appliances, furniture and various other things along with the four kids. Our favorite features are the automatic side doors, in floor storage, and the assortment of seating configurations. The sliding doors also sense when something is blocking and open back up. The alarm sounds when the side doors are open and the car is in gear. At the time, cost of a newer vehicle was an issue. The newer ones are several inches wider and would have fit the seats better. Due to the year, it was a little crowded with three car seats when the kids were little. After seven years of heavy use, it has held up well in the interior except for a few cosmetic pieces. We really like the automatic side doors however, we have had to replace the motors a time or two. There have been many times I wish I could separate the children instead of them sitting right next to each other for long trips and still have a seat down for storage. I wish the back seats folded individually instead of one and two. The in floor storage is great as well as the back seats that fold into the floor. We shuffle our children to various school activities, sporting and family events. We have four children, plus occasionally more staying with us. For the most part, this is a great vehicle for our large family. It’s practical, looks homebrewed, and mixes only a few design choices. Lastly, Monotype sees a new, indirect use of Helvetica, taking the geometric purity and brutalism of the type design and applying it in a way it describes as “measured austerity.” It’s designing by not designing, by using a minimal touch. ![]() Using sharp lines, blocky shapes, and pronounced angles, the sense of retro-futurism of the 80s is getting cultivated by forward-thinking brands for the 2020s and making it their own. Examples include meal kit company Hello Fresh and wellness brand Ripe.Īdditionally, designers using the technology of the pre-information age pushed the computers they had as far as they technically could to create expressive, imaginative work. ![]() ![]() Designers are taking elements like R’s leg and extending them, much like Suzy Rice did for the Star Wars wordmark. You can see this in the “R wars” trend Monotype has identified. There are nods to the past, some more obvious than others, and in 2021, visual staples of the 80s and 90s are now vintage cool. However, nostalgia isn’t a trend in and of itself. Applying round fat curves, organic shapes, and fluid forms is another design trend that aims to communicate humanity. In addition to thawing the coldness of geometric types, choices like Hylandia, Morning, and Rockland also add a sense of sustainability to brand identities.Īnother trend Monotype sees among brands is the use of fun, quirky, and more empathetic and expressive typography, like JKR’s recent redesign of Burger King. Using typography with a sense of craft, rustic scripts, and letterforms evocative of local markets and specialty shops is another way brands lend a human touch to their identity. Rather than use type choice subtly, some brands are amplifying type to convey confidence and strength. In contrast to designers adding a human touch to typography to better tell a brand’s story, others are blowing up fonts unbounded, using the elements, angles, and shapes of fonts to express their personality. Monotype now sees brands move away from types like Avenir and Gotham towards typography with a more human touch, using the familiar geometric humanist base and adding slight “imperfections” and manipulations, lending some personality and soul through type. Others become lingerers, often starting as something distinct from the crowd to eventually becoming commonplace. Trends will come and go, burning bright but extinguishing just as quickly. Typography in AR and VR spaces plays a vital role in designing “The Matrix,” of Zoom calls, Pokemon Go, and the Oculus Rift that we now occupy. A global pandemic has forced a new understanding, where our reality plays out across layers of screens, computers, and meatspace. But the approach so far has given the impression of a prevailing attitude that the physical (or “real”) world and the digital realm are separate spaces. Combined with other digital tools such as animated frames, data tools, and open-source code, fonts are coming alive in new ways inspired by the past.īrands have slowly been dipping their toes into augmented and virtual reality technology. Varying widths and dynamic mixes of typefaces that harken back to avant-garde typography and Paula Scher’s work for NYC-based Public Theater in the 90s are rising in popularity, with designers recreating the same effect aided by variable font technology. Monotype’s 2021 Type Trends report highlights some of the best applications of typography in design from the past year, and they see a creative community looking to typefaces and styles from the past to communicate a new, dynamic present with work getting applied in digital, virtual, and mixed spaces. ![]() The typography experts at Monotype have released their latest Type Trends report, looking at where designers are going and how those creative decisions are informing type choices. ![]() Privacy policy and GDPR | Legal Disclaimer | About us | Contact us | Advertise | Request removal | Home | Jobs near me. However, more importantly, it reveals the immense power and capability that women have always had - which is by no means less than that of their male counterparts. The novel, humorous and yet serious, at the same time, makes social commentary against the oppression of women with reference to women’s suffrage and the fight for gender equality alongside the characterisation of Lilly. Read this book review on the novel, Swiss Family Robinson. His historically conscious depiction of the setting and context of 19th century Britain is a manifestation of his passion for and knowledge of history. Have you ever wondered what it would be on a ship during a terrible storm at. His creation of the charismatic, witty, feminine, and feministic character of Lilly Linton, in contrast with the cold, serious character of Rikkard Ambrose, together with his excellent portrayal of the two, makes for a magnetic read. Robert Thier’s ability to write so convincingly from a female’s point of view - a 19th century female at that - is fascinating. Storm and Silence is an astounding novel. The main novel, Storm and Silence, which was published on Wattpad in 2015, before being officially published as a paperback version in 2016, won Wattpad Story of the Year award in 2015 and got nominated for Goodreads Choice Awards Best Romance. Robert Thier takes us through the adventurous, humorous status quo-challenging, romantic journey of Lilly Linton and Rikkard Ambrose through the main novel Storm and Silence, its prequel Before the Storm and its sequels In the Eye of the Storm, Silent Night, Silence is Golden, Silence Breaking, Hunting for Silence and finally Storm of Bells. She then works for Rikkard Ambrose, a wealthy British financier who thought very little of women, like most men in his society. Storm and Silence is an eight-book series narrated from the perspective of a 19th-century feminist, Lilly Linton, who disguises herself as a man and seeks a job in London, something that women of her society were forbidden from doing. For the first time, I read one book at a time until I completed it and started its sequel - a testament to Thier’s ability to captivate his readers. That was until I came across the Storm and Silence book series by Robert Thier, a German historian whose passion for history and humorous personality shines right through his creative writing. It got confusing and even more overwhelming as I ended up mixing up plots and characters. I would read a book to take a break from another. As a solution to that problem, I came up with a plan - which I thought was brilliant at the time - to read as many of them at a time as I want. That led to me being indecisive every time when I had to pick a book to read. Being the book fanatic I have always been and having that many books at my disposal for free at the same time for the first time in my life, I was overwhelmed. In June 1998, Tori McClure began rowing across the Atlantic Ocean solo in a twenty-three-foot plywood boat with no motor or sail. The Sketchpad uses drawing as a novel communication medium for a computer. Sketchpad was able to do just this, creating highly precise drawings, and also introduced important innovations such as memory structures to store objects and the ability to zoom in and out. He imagined that one should be able to draw on the computer. TX-2 included a nine inch CRT and a light pen which first gave Sutherland his idea. Sketchpad ran on the Lincoln TX-2 computer, an innovative machine designed in 1956 (it had a large amount of memory for its time: a vacuum-tube-driven core of 64K words, a faster, transistor-driven core of 4K words, a paper-tape reader and could also use magnetic tape as auxiliary storage.) TX-2 was an “on-line” computer (at that time most computers would run “batches” of jobs and were not interactive), used to investigate the use of Surface Barrier transistors for digital circuits. Sketchpad, in turn, influenced Douglas Engelbart’s NLS (oN-Line System). Sketchpad was influenced by the conceptual Memex of Vannevar Bush, as it was envisioned in his fundamental paper “As We May Think”. For his Ph.D., Sutherland went to MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) were he studied under Claude Shannon and Marvin Minsky and developed his revolutionary thesis, Sketchpad, A Man-Machine Graphical Communication System, the first Graphical User Interface. also in Electrical Engineering from the Caltech (California Institute of Technology). Sutherland went on the study at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and then went on to earn a M.S. Ivan and his brother Bert even met Berkeley and were inspired to envision new avenues for programming. This program was a great accomplishment, it was the longest program ever written for Simon, a total of eight pages of paper tape. To make division possible, he added a conditional stop to Simon’s instruction set. Ivan’s first big computer program was to make Simon divide. His first computer experience was with the famous computer Simon of Edmund Berkeley. He introduced concepts such as 3-D computer modeling, visual simulations, computer aided design (CAD), virtual reality, etc. thesis, named Sketchpad, which is one of the most influential computer programs ever written by an individual, Sutherland has contributed numerous ideas to the study of Computer Graphics and Computer Interaction. Sketchpad was based on the revolutionary Lincoln TX-2 computer, which was released in 1956. This ring structure provided immediate topological information processing, which eliminated the need for any searching. The drawings created using Sketchpad were saved in the computer's custom constructed ring structure. It offered the "ring" list structure and used value inference to solve constraints. ![]() Sketchpad allowed users to draw on a computer screen with a light pen. Sketchpad also has certain CAD functions, such as the ability to calculate loads on beams. It could handle restrictions for example, drawing a restricted ellipse resulted in a circle.
